FMRL ~ Waves of German Immigration to America with Ken Weaver

This program explores the major waves of German immigration to the United States from the 17th through early 20th centuries. Participants will learn about key migration periods, including early colonial settlers, the large influx following the Revolutions of 1848, and later economic migrations. The session highlights common regions of origin, settlement patterns in places like Pennsylvania and the Midwest, and the cultural and religious factors that shaped German-American communities. Attendees will also gain practical genealogical strategies for tracing German ancestry, including identifying ancestral villages, understanding naming conventions, and locating records both in the U.S. and Germany.
