British Home Children – Bryan Mulcahy (GW)
The British Home Children program was the child migration project founded primarily by Annie MacPherson in 1869. More than 100,000 children were sent from the United Kingdom primarily to Canada. Some were also sent to places like Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The program was largely discontinued in the 1930s but not entirely terminated until the 1970s. This seminar will cover the highlights and includes a study guide with sources and links for further research.
