Join us for a Saturday Membership Meeting with Steve Colburn when he presents his program “Archival Research for Genealogists.”
This class is designed to help genealogists supplement their family research by going beyond the commonly-used sources with archival materials. These materials are often not found when using typical, general-purpose databases and online search engines. We will look at a wide variety of archival sources for lesser-known primary and secondary materials, and learn about three powerful tools to access this archived material, including one that the instructor developed for this course. We will bring those elements together (the sources and the tools) in a case study, demonstrating how access to archival materials will enhance and facilitate the work that genealogists do. Handouts will be provided to help researchers access archival sources in more detail, and practice the skills demonstrated in the class.
Speaker will be in person. Meeting will be a hybrid meeting.
