FORT MYERS REGIONAL LIBRARY UPDATE
The Fort Myers Regional Library is Open to the Public!
Monday through Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
AND
Thursday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Currently, the Genealogy Room is closed, BUT,
you can access the enhanced version of FamilySearch
on the public computers on the first and second floors.
Patrons are allowed up to two hours per day.
Sessions are for one hour each, but they receive a message at the five-minute mark
asking if they would like more time. By answering "YES", it automatically extends the time.
Patrons also have the option of asking library staff members for an extension.
AT HOME ACCESS is also available for Ancestry Library Edition, fold3 Library Edition,
as well as Heritage Quest. You can access these options from the library's website
and using your Lee County Library Card.

The Genealogy Department Shelf List at the Fort Myers Regional Library located at 2450 First Street, Fort Myers, Florida, is presented as a service to library patrons and distant researchers. These pages provide a full listing of genealogy resources available for your use at the Fort Myers Regional Library.
The collection currently contains 11,508 individual items of genealogical reference as of 9 March 2020.

Our basic Genealogy Shelf List categories include:
- General Reference (001 through 899),
- Geography (901.9 through 917.8),
- Family Histories (929.2),
- General Genealogy Reference (920 through 929.9, excluding 929.2 Family Histories),
- The United States and World History (940 through 999),
- Individual State Reference Books, and
- International Reference Books.

** Please note that due to shelving constraints in our genealogy room, some of the Florida materials listed in this section are currently shelved in the Florida Reference section which is located on the 2nd-floor in Adult Reference. Items that have been transferred are identified by the following phrase in the individual entry: Note: Shelved in Florida Reference. If you need assistance in locating this area, any 2nd-floor reference staff member or Carolyn Ford will be happy to direct you to the area.

At times you will see "n.c.d." used in a book description. This abbreviation stands for "no copyright date."
