Area Specific Groups
 
Canadian Roots - for members researching ancestors in Canada.This group will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday of each month from January through April during 2017 after our Monthly Membership Meeting. They will gather in the LCGS Resource Room found at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home at 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
English Roots - for members researching ancestors in England.This group usually meets from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on the 2nd Friday of each month from October through May. They gather in the LCGS Resource Room found at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home at 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
Irish Roots - for Members researching their ancestors from Ireland.This group usually meets from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Members gather in the LCGS Resource Room at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Homeat 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
German Roots - for members researching ancestors from Germany other German-speaking countries. This group usually meets from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 2nd Friday of each month from October through May. Members gather in the LCGS Resource Room found at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home at 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
Mid-West Roots - for members whose ancestors lived in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.This group usually meets during the months of September through April. Members gather in the LCGS Resource Room found at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home at 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
New York-New England Roots - for members whose ancestors lived in New York and/or the New England states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. This group usually meets from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of each month from November through May. Members gather in the LCGS Resource Room found at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home at 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
 
Genealogy Software Program Support
An opportunity for members to discuss application issues, demonstrate program operations and features, and answer questions. The use of laptop computers is encouraged.
 
Family Tree Maker - this group usually meets from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on the 1st Wednesday of each month from November through May. Members gather in the LCGS Resource Room foundat the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home at 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.

General Discussion
 
Twigs – a forum for discussion, sharing, and problem solving.This group usually meets from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 1st Thursday of each month. Members gather in the LCGS Resource Room found at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home at 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
 
Your Family History
 
Writers Group – for members wishing to go beyond recording names, dates and places, to interweave interesting facts about their ancestors' lives, placing individuals in a social and historical context. This group usually meets from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday of each month. Members gather in the LCGS Resource Room found at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Homeat 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
 
DNA - the LCGS DNA Special Interest Group is open to members who have an interest in using DNA testing for genealogy or family history research. Those totally new to genetic genealogy will find if DNA testing is right for them; experienced members might learn a new skill or help others in the group. These meetings are usually held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, from November to May. Members gather in the South Building of the Fort Myers Regional Library, classrooms A & B, 1651 Lee Street, Fort Myers, Florida. Free parking is available in the parking lot next to the South Building. Handicapped parking is available in the parking lot very near our meeting rooms. Please enter through the front door, not the side doors that are locked during the week. Meeting dates and/or times may be moved due to space availability. If you are interested in attending the LCGS DNA SIG, contact a.perisho@embarqmail.com to be placed on the DNA SIG notification list for meeting dates/times.
